Nalin

Nalin

Oh, that child of mine, always thinking that they have to take the world on their own shoulders. When they were just a sprout I found them, and never a day has gone by since then when they did not think to lend a paw. Even if, I think, it wasn't what was wanted, but that's young critters for you. Wait and watch, listen and look is what I teach all of my children. Some hear it and some don't, but Nalin, always had good ears, that one. May it serve them well, off in that big city of theirs.

Old Chief Tanaka

Old Chief Tanaka

Tanaka and I, aaah, the stories that I could tell! There was a time, let me see, it was at the meet during Arda, oh, it must have been twenty, twenty-five summers ago. Old Tan was such a trouble-maker back then, you'd never know he'd go on to be the Elder for the Tribes, First in Council... he is rich with stories now, but then? He was only Tan, and he knew his way around a festival, you may be sure of it! We'll sit down over a cup once the little ones are asleep, and you will hear all.

Plains of Greater Mycorzha

Plains of Greater Mycorzha

This is the heart of the land, and it hums with the stories of the Isles in a way that those who live in one place can scarcely understand. The grass, its roots, the ways of streams and butterflies and the winds; these are the things that have occurred, and the land is shaped by them, just as we are shaped by our own stories. In the city, or in the wood, sometimes there are only words, without the message. It takes fine ears to hear it there, but here it shouts loudly to the sky.

Mycorzha

Mycorzha

The Isles themselves contain many, many tales, past, present, and future. Each of us, the land, the streams, the mountains are all bound up in them, each of us characters with our own plots and development. For those that take the time to listen, there is much to learn about themselves, and about where we as Mycozhans are going, from where we have been. I only hope that more pause to hear what has been told.

Learn More About Mato

Writing is a relatively new invention on Mycorzha, and while pictoglyphs are in common usage, and letters and messages are beginning to flow across the Isles, tales and histories and wisdom have been passed down by word of mouth for generations. This vast oral history is kept by many across the land, but there are those few who are noted as particular keepers of these tales, by dint of passion, age, or simply having an excellent memory. Mato, known as the Lorekeeper by many of the bands that range through central Mycorzha, combines all of these traits. Possessed of a photographic memory and a passionate dedication to the oral traditions of his home, this jackalope knows more tales than most have forgotten.
